Lingshed is one of the very remote villages in Ladakh in the Zanskar region. To reach here you need to drive through some of the remotest roads of India, crossing two passes above 15000ft and then another 2 days of trekking. The village is about a thousand year old and has an ancient monastery, a very significant Buddhist site. The monastery is home for many monks who stay here all year around, away from all attachments of the world.
GHE took an arduous task to installed numerous solar micro grids at this village in 2016 and ended the eons of darkness for the villagers here. Apart from it, our team also set up a satellite based computer laboratory here for the school children.
